My Journal - April 13 - Day 1 - Departure

Twas a long night on 12th the eve of my departure to EBC. I dreamt about all night and it was almost unbelievable that it was all coming true!! Got up late in the morning with a wide smile. This was the D-day. But I had a lot of packing to do. So went to a website calledhttp://www.sherpatrek.com to print the check list. Packed all my stuff plastic covers. Pushed them all into a 70 liter Rucksack and ready!! Came to the Station at like 4pm. Train No - 2592 [Bangalore - Gorakhpur Express] Dept Time - 16:40 hrs. Spotted all my friends and I was so happy that I was Spending almost a month with them. We would surely have loads of fun. The train was delayed by an hour. The Suvarna News Video Graphed us and aired it on the T.V. We got into the train stuffed all our Rucksacks under the Seats & Few on the Upper Birth. I had bought a Big Rucksack and a smaller one for the train Journey. So we were settled and all the Hustle & Bustle was over we could finally sit down & talk. I had never met some of them for over a year. So we chatted for some time and a long silence continued when we were out of topics & then we took out the playing Cards and played Mafia. But after a few round it became really boring, so took out my Mp3 player & listened to some metal. It was time for Dinner; I had packed Chapatti rolled with Omelet. I don’t eat a lot during the train journey, chatted for some time & I went to sleep at about 9pm. I know its early but I hadn’t slept properly the previous night so I was really very Sleepy.

April 14 - Day 2- Train Journey

Had a nice Quiet sleep till 7am. Breakfast was Bread with tomato Masala. After breakfast we played bluff. A card where the best bluffer wins! Then Anubhav took out the cover his Mom had packed. Had some good homemade Cake. It was delicious. It was already time for lunch. I ordered it from the train pantry. Train food is actually good. I had two bowls of rice with Chola Panneer. Played Rummee, it was fun when I was winning. We had reached Nagpur. I was feeling cold in the A/c coach, so I stepped out, the Scorching heat was blistering. It was 41'C !! But in our comfortable seats we were shivering now this is called " Conditional Suffering" . We had a long of cards after that. I skipped Dinner. This night I thought of staying up late and do some stuff that we had planned. Anubhav & Me had planned that after everyone went asleep we would toothpaste their face. Even Smrithi & Bhavani joined in into the plan, we waited till everyone went asleep, took out my close up paste the red gel one. The first target was Anirudh, I couldn't see a thing, but I could feel that I had put some paste on his Moshe & Smrithi [the Evil] took a snap of it. Man this was the funniest moment. I couldn’t control my laughter by the time we put paste on everyone, Sridhar Uncle woke up I saw him and immediately hit the bed.

April 15- Day 3- Gorakhpur

Got up late at like 8 am, Anirudh took revenge & tothpasted Me also on my cheek. Everyone was like I know you did it Sant. By 7pm we reached Gorakhpur, We kept all our Luggage in front of the Station, then Anil Uncle & Anubhav check for taxi's to the border. Unfortunately General Elections were being held at the same time. So it was difficult to find a Taxi. The alternate was to stay at Gorakhpur. Fortunately we found a Taxi. 14 people + Driver packed into one Tata Sumo.

Twas a 3 hour Journey. We reached the border. Anil Uncle made some calls & went to see is the border was open. Usually the border is open 24/7 but since it was Election time they had closed it. It was 10 pm we hadnt eaten properly so we ordered for food. We got it at 11pm.. Food was simple Roti, Dal, Rice & Dahi. Roti wasn’t that good but the Dal and Rice was awesome. At 11:45pm we left for the India-Nepal Border. The Indian Custom Office was like a small Tea shop. We had to bribe the border guards 200/person and they let us into another Country!! Only the Indian guards took the Nepal Guard didnt take a single penny he just welcomed us with a smile. Rested Outside a closed Restaurant. The only problem now was that the Vehicle which we had to board from the Border to KathMandu was to arrive at 3am. It was 12pm we couldn't sleep because of the mosquitoes. I sat for some time, took a walk around and tried to sleep but couldn't. It was 3am but the Van wasn't here. The Foreign Exchange was open. I IC was 1.6 NC. I exchange 100 bucks. It was 5am the van wasn't here. We had tea and at 7am the Van finally came. It was a 17 seater SUV. Toyota Hiace. I've never seen it before but it is very spacious and comfortable. I was damn sleepy with all the bites for the mosquitoes. I slept for an hour, looked out of the window and i saw a beautiful scene. So i took out my camera and started shooting. Slept for 2 more hours, stopped for lunch. I orders Chow Mein but the best thing in that Hotel was that a waitress was serving was us. She was Hot!! The chow mein wasn't that good but when a hot girl serves it really doesn't matter. But I seriously don't recommend chowmein to be had in Nepal. We entered Kathmandu, it was damn hot and I saw not shops or anything, I was totally pissed off!! I expected it to be cool have loads of adventure shops and all. Then I realised that we were still in outer Kathmandu. We entered Thamel, a street with adventure shops and everything I evere wanted. I just wanted to get down and shop!! We reached out\r Hotel at 4pm. The rooms were awesome. We had a A/c and a T.v Which worked. But no tine for all that now, just freshened up. Took my camera and left. Smrithi and Bhavani were also shopping with us.
